Volcara LLC is the data controller for personal information collected through volcara.ai.
2. The short version
- We do not sell your personal information. We never have and we do not intend to.
- We do not run advertising, and we do not use advertising trackers.
- As of the last updated date, this site sets no cookies and loads no analytics or advertising trackers. Our host does receive automatic reports from your browser when a connection fails — section 3.3 says what that is.
- The only personal information we hold is what you deliberately type into a form and submit.
- If you take our research survey, you choose whether your contact details are attached to your answers.
3. What we collect, and why
The three sections below cover the contact field, the research survey, and what our host records automatically.
3.1 If you contact us
The site has one contact field, which takes an email address. If you send it, we use it to reply to you and for nothing else. We do not add it to a mailing list.
3.2 If you take our research survey
We run a short survey to understand how work spills into people's personal time and where AI tools help or fail. It is research, not marketing.
The answers themselves. Multiple-choice responses about your working hours, how much of a problem it is for you, what it costs you, your experience with AI tools, and how you learn new tools. One optional free-text box. None of these questions ask who you are.
Optional contact details. At the end, and only if you want to hear what we find or are open to a conversation, you may give a first name and an email address.
Your choice about linking, which we honour in the data and not only in words. When you submit those details you pick one of two options, and they are genuinely different:
- Attached. Your name and email are stored on the same record as your answers. We will see them together.
- Unlinked. Your name and email are stored in a separate list that contains no answers. That list records only the date you submitted, not the time, and carries no identifier that joins it back to any response.
What “unlinked” honestly means. Volcara holds both sets of data. There is no key, timestamp or stored field connecting them, and we do not attempt to reconnect them. But this is separation, not anonymisation, and we will not claim otherwise. Early on, when submissions are few, someone determined and with access could make a reasonable guess from the date alone. If that matters to you, the safest choice is to leave the contact fields blank — the survey submits perfectly well without them.
3.3 Collected automatically by our host
This site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare acts as both our host and our content delivery network, and it keeps standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps — for security and reliability. Those logs are held by Cloudflare under its own retention policy, not ours; we do not operate separate logging of our own, and we do not combine any of it with survey responses.
Network error reports. Cloudflare also asks your browser to report failed connections to this site to a.nel.cloudflare.com, keeping those reports for seven days. Successful visits are not reported. These contain technical connection details — not your survey answers — and we do not use them to identify anyone. This is on by default at the host level rather than something we switched on, but your browser does send it, so we would rather say so than let “we collect nothing” stand as a claim that is not quite true.
What is not here. No analytics product. No advertising or tracking scripts. No bot-challenge platform. No cookies are set by this site. The only other external request the pages make is to Google Fonts, for typefaces.
4. What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not use it to train machine-learning models.
- We do not send marketing email to addresses given for a different purpose.
- We do not require an account, and we do not ask you to create one.
5. Where the information goes
Survey responses and contact details are stored in Google Workspace (Google Sheets, written by a Google Apps Script endpoint) on Google's servers in the United States, under a Volcara LLC business account. Google acts as our processor.
Access is limited to Volcara personnel who need it — in practice, currently, the Founder.
We use no other third-party processor for survey data. There is no CRM, no email marketing platform, and no analytics product receiving it.
6. How long we keep it
- Contact emails: as long as needed to handle the conversation, then deleted in routine cleanup.
- Survey answers: kept for the life of the research programme and any resulting write-up. Because they contain no identifiers, they may be retained in aggregate indefinitely.
- Contact details from the survey: kept until the research is complete or you ask us to remove them, whichever comes first.
You can ask us to delete your details at any time and we will, without asking why.
7. Your rights
Wherever you live, you may ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you
- correct it
- delete it
- stop using it
Email hello@volcara.ai. We will respond within 30 days. We will not charge you, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
If you are in the United States: several states, including California, give residents specific rights over personal information, including the right to know, to delete, to correct, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of, but the other rights apply and the address above is how you use them.
One practical limit, stated plainly. If you chose the unlinked option, we cannot connect you to your survey answers — that is the entire point of the option. So we can delete your contact details on request, but we cannot identify which answers were yours in order to delete them. Those answers contain no information about who you are.
8. Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
9. Security
Data is held in Google Workspace with account access controls. The survey endpoint validates and neutralises what it receives before storing it, and does not accept submissions that fail those checks.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. Please do not put sensitive personal information into the free-text box; the survey does not need it.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The “last updated” date shows the most recent revision. If a change materially affects how we handle information already collected, we will say so on this page rather than change it quietly.
